Student Absence and Tardiness Information

Through the District Safe-at-Home Program, the school will alert you if your student is not in school on a given day. In the event that your student will be absent or tardy, please call the school at 215-368-3061 between 8:00 and 9:30 AM. You may also leave a message on our voice mail system (option number two) if you need to call your student out sick before 8:00 AM. Please indicate your student's name, homeroom teacher, the reason for absence, and any homework request.

If no reason is provided for an absence or tardiness, it will be considered unexcused.

The North Penn Elementary Handbook and Student Discipline and Attendance Code list the following as excusable reasons for absence and tardiness:

  • Personal illness
  • Quarantine of the individual or home
  • Death in the immediate family
  • Impassable roads
  • Educational trip with parent/guardian with prior approval of the principal
  • Religious holiday
  • Suspension from school
  • Required court appearance
  • Medical or dental appointments
  • Exceptional urgent reasons pertaining to the student as determined in collaboration with the principal

"Excuse for Absence or Tardiness" forms are no longer required if the school is contacted by phone.
Notes or excuse blanks will still be necessary if phone notification requirements are not followed. Excuse blanks are available in the school office oar at www.npenn.org.
